Another great 4WD tour was an exploratory to the Deliblat
sandhills of Serbia, used to be called the
"Hungaran Sahara", with which we have many relations
in ornithology and natural history. We were in search of autumn
birds and two extreme moth-rarity, Chondrosoma fiduicarum
and Oxytrypia orbiculosa. We had great birding on
the Danube with Ruddy Shelducks (Novi Knezevac ponds,
24.X.2008.) and some flocks of Common Cranes at the
famous Slano Kopovo lake, which was famous about holding the
last populations of White-headed Ducks until the
late 60's.
