Bird tour in Croatia: After finishing the hiking-trekking tour we have run a shorter 4WD birding tour for a private party to see some of the specialities of the Dalmatian coast. We had mega-prolonged views of Rock Partridges and Sombre Tits, not to mention the usual stuff, incl. Rock Nuthatch, Rock Trush, Blue Rock Thrush, Alpine Cough, Black-headed Bunting, Rock Bunting, Audouin's Gull, Griffon Vultures, Eleonora's Falcon and a pair of Lanner, next to Dubrovnik. We also had great encounters with several butterfly-rarities, incl. Nettle-tree Butterfly, Lang's Short-tailed Blue, Mountain Argus, the very local Dalmatian Ringet and one Iolas Blue, furthermore many Mountain Small Whites and Southern Small Whites. I never seen so many Southern White Admirals and Southern Festoons like this year, just like Marsh Fritillaries at newly discovered sites. There was also a mass gradation of Black-veined Whites, which was very memorable.

Rock Partridge, one of the top birds of Croatia. We always
have great encounters with this species.

Rock Partridge 2.

Rock Partridge 3.

Sombre Tit - another Croatian mega.

Griffon Vultures over the Adriatic Sea at Cres Island.

Black-headed Bunting

Dalmatian Ringlet - local speciality with very restricted range.

Long-tailed Blue - not a rarity, but still a great butterfly in
our area.

Southern White Admiral
