Price: Ask! We are sorry, but exchange rates are so hectic, that we can't give fix prices here. Price includes: accommodations and meals (lunch is typically picnic!), drinking water, vehicle hire with fuel and driver guide, park entrance fees and ranger guides. The price exclude: bank transfer loss, international flight, visa, tips, drinks, personal travel insurance and any other activities of personal request e.g. laundry, toalet fees, phone calls, etc.

Accommodation: Three-star hotels with all rooms en suite. 5 star luxurious version available with the best hotels and restaurants of the country.

Description: "...Our itineraries cover all of Hungary's top cultural and natural highlights, including National Parks, World Heritage Sites, historic sites, wine regions and healing spas. They are an excellent choice for families and couples with different levels of interest in nature and culture, birding and cuisine, but looking for a balanced mix to suit both tastes..."


Trip outline:
 
Day "0". Pre-extension.

Day 01: Arrive Budapest. Program is open on arrival: visit nearby Margaret Island and the Buda Hills.

Day 02: Budapest sightseeing. Roman Aquincum, historic Heroes's Square and the Fine Art Museum and National Gallery, stylish Andrassy Street, St. Stephen's Basilica, Parliament, Crown jewels, downtown Vaci Street, Buda Castle District, Gellert Hill and the Citadel.

Day 03: Danube Bend day. We visit Visegrad Royal City, Zebegény village, trekking at Nagymaros. Esztergom Basilica and historic Szentendre's Serbian inner city and open air village museum. We end ther day with a cruise on the Danube to Budapest.

Day 04: Balaton-Uplands National Park. We make en-route stops in the Vértes Hills, Camandulese Hermitage, local wetlands and forests, Lake Velence Bird Sanctuary, Tihany Peninsula and it's historic Abbey, ending with winetastings at Badacsony and St. György hills.

Day 05: Sightseeing in Kõszeg medieval city combined with a birding excursion to the Kõszeg Hills Nature Conervation Area to see Styrian houses, "Seven Springs" and Irottko Peak.

Day 06:
Õrség National Park. Hungary at it's most charming with beautiful wildflower meadows, traditional architecture, mature forests, moorland and wetland all set in rolling hill country.

Day 07: Trek to St. György Hill and Szigliget fortress. We visit Keszthely - "capital of Lake Balaton" - and majestic Count Festetich Palace and go birdwatching at secluded Kis-Balaton Biosphere Reserve. Drive to Pécs.

Day 08: Pécs sightseeing. Turkish-era monuments, the inner city and Roman tombs (World Heritage Site) followed by an excursion and open air cooking at the Mecsek Nature Conservation Area.

Day 09: Visit Szársomlyó Hill nature reserve and go winetasting at the private Villany cellars.

Day 10: To Dunaföldvár with en-route stops at the most atmospheric sites in Tolna county: Bikács, Németkér and the Gemenc Big Game Reserve.

Day 11: Kiskunság National Park: This unique area is one of the most beautiful in Hungary. We visit Bugac pusta traditional displays, animal farms, shallow saline lakes, sand dunes and moors.

Day 12: To Hortobágy. Visit the wild steppes of Jászkarajenõ and gallery forests of Tõserdõ reserve followed by bathing in the thermal waters at Kerekdomb.

Day 13: Hortobágy National Park. Birdwatching and excursions around Hungary's vast "Bird Mecca": Hortobagy Halasz-to complex, traditional animal farm, puszta display, the nine-arch bridge, Shepherd's museum and black pottery museum.

Day 14: Hortobágy National Park. We visit more sites in the Hortobagy and make our way to Budapest with en-route stops at Gödöllõ Royal Palace and local birding sites. Or join to our Northern Hungary extension.

+ Northern Hungary extension:

Day 14: To Zemplen Hills. Birding and winetasting in the world-famous Tokaj region.

Day 15: Zemplén Hills. Birdwatching for owls and woodpeckers plus excursions to historic onion-domed churches and the ancient fortress of Boldogkõváralja. To Aggtelek.

Day 16: Aggtelek National Park. Birdwatching in beech forests and rocky hill-side habitats combined with visits to traditional villages and the unique Baradla Cave system (World Heritage Site).

Day 17: Bükk National Park. Excursions to the old forested foothills, Felsõtárkány, Szilvásvárad, Szalajka Falls, a local trout-farm and the famous "Great Meadow".

Day 18: We visit historic Eger's fortress and Turkish-era Minaret and make stops at Hollókõ traditional village (World Heritage Site). To Budapest.
